About Ollie

The promise

Most places to find people fail the same way: you put yourself out there and nobody answers. Ollie fixes the silence. Every ask on Ollie is:

• Live. Asks expire after 30 days, and they pause if the asker stops answering. Nothing on Home is dead.
• Nearby. In-person asks within 25 miles, plus online asks from anywhere. Home is never padded with places you won't go.
• Answered. Every reply gets a Yes or a kind No thanks within 7 days.

Ollie is for adults (18+) who want a platonic connection of any kind, local or online. It's not for dating, events or recruiting.

How it works

1. Ask. Write one sentence saying who you're looking for. Tick “Online works too” or “It's a group” if they fit.
2. Reply. See an ask that fits you? Send one message: say hi, and when and where you're free.
3. Answer. The asker says Yes or No thanks within 7 days. Yes opens a chat, and you make the plan.

The four rules

1. One sentence is enough.
2. Every reply gets an answer.
3. Nothing more until Yes.
4. Asks last 30 days.

Staying safe

• Meet somewhere public the first time, and tell a friend where you're going.
• Keep contact details for the chat. Ollie hides links, phone numbers and email addresses until the asker says Yes.
• Nothing more can be sent until Yes, and No thanks is final.
• Block anyone from their card, reply or chat. You disappear from each other entirely.
• Report anything that feels wrong. It hides for you at once, and two independent reports pause an account until a person reviews it.
• New accounts can send 5 replies a day for their first week.
• Ollie is for adults 18 and older.

Privacy

We never sell your data. We never show your email or exact location.

Ollie shows only your first name, neighborhood, photo and the About line you write. We use your email to sign you in and to tell you about replies, answers and your asks. You can turn off the optional emails on Me.

A note from the founder

Ollie was founded by Jon McEwen, who studied philosophy at the University of North Texas and creative writing at North Carolina State University. Jon built Ollie to make it easier for people to find genuine connections and communities. He believes this is especially important now, as in-person relationships grow more scarce and we spend more time in digital spaces, both organic and generated.
