Who can use Ollie

You must be 18 or older to use Ollie.

Ollie is for platonic connections of any kind: friends, roommates, bandmates, study partners, co-founders and mentors. It's not for dating, events or recruiting.

Use one account, your real first name and a real photo of yourself.

Your account

You sign in with a link or a 6-digit code that we email you. There's no password, so keep your email account safe: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

You can delete your account at any time on Me.

What you post

You own what you write on Ollie: your asks, replies, messages and About line.

You let Ollie store it, show it on Ollie and include it in Ollie's emails, only so the service works. For example, we show your ask on Home and send your reply to the asker.

We don't sell what you write, and we don't give it to anyone to use for their own purposes.

Links, phone numbers and email addresses in asks, replies and your About line are hidden. Share them in a chat after Yes.

The rules

• Be kind and honest. Post asks for things you really want.
• No harassment, hate, threats or sexual content.
• No spam, sales pitches or recruiting.
• No dating or hook-up asks.
• Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't share anyone else's private information.
• Don't use Ollie for anything illegal.
• Don't scrape, copy or overload Ollie, or try to get around its limits.

How asks and replies work

• An ask lasts 30 days. You can renew it, and you can have up to 3 open asks at a time.
• Every reply gets an answer: Yes, No thanks, or a kind close after 7 days without one.
• If replies to your ask go unanswered for 7 days, your ask pauses until you resume it.
• Yes opens a chat. Nothing more can be sent until Yes, and No thanks is final for that ask.

Safety and moderation

Ollie doesn't run background checks or verify who people are. You decide who to meet. Meet somewhere public the first time, and tell a friend where you're going.

You can block anyone and report anything that feels wrong. Reported content hides for you right away. When two people independently report an account, we pause it until a person reviews it.

We may remove asks, replies or messages that break these rules, and pause or close accounts. If we take down your ask, we'll tell you why.

Privacy

We never sell your data. We never show your email or exact location.

What we keep: your email address, first name, neighborhood and its approximate location, your photo, your About line, and what you post (asks, replies and chat messages). We also keep reports and blocks.

What other people see: your first name, neighborhood, photo and About line, on your asks and replies and in chats. Distances are rounded to the nearest mile.

Who helps us run Ollie: Supabase stores our data, Vercel hosts the site, Resend sends our emails and Google Maps helps you pick your neighborhood. They use data only to provide those services to us.

We email you to sign in and about replies, answers, your asks and your account's safety. You can turn off emails about similar asks and new chat messages on Me, or with the link in those emails.

Deleting your account

When you delete your account on Me, we remove your profile, your asks and your replies right away. Messages you sent in chats stay, so the chat still makes sense for the others, and are shown as “Former member”.

No guarantees

Ollie is provided as is. We work to keep it running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.

We're not responsible for what other people post, say or do, on Ollie or when you meet. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or unexpected losses from using Ollie.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make a real change, we'll change the version at the top and tell you on Ollie or by email before it applies. If you keep using Ollie after that, the new terms apply.
